Ikea have been announced as the latest company to consider cutting sick pay for unvaccinated employees. The retail chain has acknowledged that this is an “emotive topic” but insist that its policy had to evolve with changing circumstances.
Unvaccinated Ikea employees, who do not have mitigating circumstances, who are required to isolate after being identified as a close contact, could now receive as little as £96.35 a week. The minimum Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
From this week, Wessex Water will also implement the cut of sick pay for the unvaccinated. In the United States several large companies have also started to penalise their unjabbed workers
