Tompkins Knight & Son (TK&S) in Northampton hosted 30 practitioners during a two day scleral lenses workshop, that discussed the benefits of contact lenses.
Discussion into the theory and practice of scleral lenses was delivered by the European School of Scleral Lenses (Euroscole) with sponsorship provided by the Hakim Group.
Daddi Fadel, founder of Euroscole and practice owner in Italy, said: ‘For practitioners, scleral lenses give you the opportunity to change people’s lives. This is very important. You can understand how important you are for these patients. People need you. For patients, scleral lenses are indicated for so many conditions, from irregular cornea to ocular surface diseases, but also for high myopia astigmatism because they provide comfort and vision stability.’
Brian Tompkins, optometrist and director at TK&S, said: ‘If you want to give yourself a really golden opportunity to learn something new, something exciting, something life-changing and just astoundingly good for patients, then scleral lenses give you the chance to do that.’
