Eyewear visionary Tom Davies has crafted a pair of exclusive frames for the highly anticipated Warner Brothers’ film, “Wonka,” alongside an additional collection featuring seven frames inspired by the movie.
For the character Fickelgruber, Davies fashioned a timeless, period-appropriate shape with lenses sporting a distinctive green tint. Meanwhile, the character Abacus called for vintage frames designed to rest gracefully at the end of the nose.
Collaborating with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, Davies has curated seven more frames, each with a unique or exotic element in harmony with the film’s enchanting narrative.
The optical frame Abigail, redolent of giraffe’s milk, boasts a screen-printed giraffe pattern on both the frame and arms. On the other hand, the blue crystal acetate Wonk showcases an asymmetric design.
The Electric yellow sunglass Dancer illuminates a vibrant neon yellow when worn indoors under blue light. Additionally, the matte-finished sunglass Stars emits a neon green glow in the dark, activated by exposure to light from a lamp or sunlight.
Scheduled for launch this month through Davies’ esteemed Catch London brand, the collection also features sunglasses Sunny, UV+Me, and Pinky, each undergoing a captivating colour transformation when worn in sunlight.
Having previously collaborated with Warner Bros. on several blockbuster films, Davies expressed his excitement, stating, “Growing up, I loved Roald Dahl’s stories and always dreamed of running my own factory. Being inspired by Willy Wonka from a young age and now getting to design frames for Wonka very much feels like a childhood ambition fulfilled.”
